[Attachment(s) from vwnate1@yahoo.com [diesel_mercedes] included below]We'll see how adventurous I am ;
I was working on Tom's old '81 300SD in the street when some @$$hat backed into it and could have killed me .
I don't like working in the street but figured taking the door apart to fix the glass that finally fell off the track TWO YEARS + after I told him it was going to fail , would be safe enough .
Lucky for me I wasn't working on an old VW Beetle ! .

Whew ;
I have been working my butt off getting my old truck's engine ready to be re installed .
It turned out pretty nice all in all .
To - day I tried to rest but around mid day SWMBO wanted me to take her '82 240D to the gas station , fill it up , buy more Diesel Kleen (she can't remember this and so uses my nickname " Go-Go Juice " , this will be the first bottle of Silver For Summer , I added a few ounces of the White For Winter bottle to the tank and bought a couple quarts of engine oil to carry in the trunk .
I couldn't find any oil marked ' for Diesel engines ' and I spent some time looking .
I added some coolant and so on , took her to lunch , it was 87° F out so I dialed up " refrigerator " on the R-12 charged AC , fan on low and she complained it was too cold .
Off to do a brake job on my old Metropolitan Nash Fixed Head Coupe to - morrow , replace the howling driver's side front wheel bearings too if I can find some good ones in my parts stash .

I've cut off my AC condenser belt since last summer. It was not working well anyway. In the SF area, it never gets too hot, so it did not matter... but out here in Baltimore, it gets hot in the summer...so may put it back on. Brings up the question...if you cut off the belt, why not take off the condenser, ac hoses etc.?
