I dunno ;
VW's trucks from 1952 through 1970 had them too .
Old Datsun trucks had them , I remember lotsa vehicles with them when I was a Gas Station Mechanic .
Properly set up , they work a treat and halt your rig RIGHT NOW with minimal foot pressure .
The Datsun's brakes however , gave me fits and never stopped very well .

Re: [diesel_mercedes] SOLD!
You know I will! Shhhh don't tell Kevin though!
One of the lookers told me his son was taking classes in Dallas at Autohaus! Hmmmm been looking on-line for that place, I'll take classes there if I can! I was going to take a diesel class at the local community college, but it was only about John Deere.
Heck I even applied for a receptionist job at Park Place Mercedes...anything to get my foot in the door and pick some local brains!
Trish,
Yes, please stick around, as we all expect, not sure when, sometime out
of the blue, we'll hear that you just bought another MB diesel.

Aw shucks thanks Chip. I told the guy I sold it to that maybe down the road I might buy one that he fixes up. He said he might sell me the 240 he got that we were going to look at "but I doubt it" he said in the next breath. :(
Oh I'll be back in one some day!

[diesel_mercedes] Re: Re : Ponton Brakes
Well, I have to say the brakes on my 190D sucked, bad. Before and after I worked on them. If fact I used to have dreams/nightmares where I was driving the car but could not stop. But it's a four on the tree so really don't need the brakes much anyway. Max

I have been pretty surprised on my diesel systems. Never seem to get much water. It's seems my 300 gallon generator tank would get a bunch from condensation. Max
