[diesel_mercedes] Re: What are they worth? (ballpark)

I know all that. What I wanted to hear is what the group conscious thinks.

The NADA prices for used cars are almost always (in my experience anyways) lower than the KBB so that the auto dealers can pay you less than what they would have to pay if going by the KBB for a used car. I am constantly seeing new car dealers with signs on their lots saying they will pay 10% over NADA prices for used cars. And you know they are still going to make a profit when they sell that car to someone else. Is it just me or does anyone else see a conflict of interest here on the part of the auto industry in publishing their own book? Since Kelly was not directly profiting by the information they published I have more reason to believe that it is accurate. Honest anyway.

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re: glow plug problem

B,

I think you are lucky that you found Monark.

I have seen recommendations not to use Autolite.  I did and it burned out.  But I think my engine may have a "blob" in the way that is touching the plug and causing it to burn out.  So I am not sure if it was the plug or my engine.  Based on the consensus here, I will not buy Autolite again if I can avoid it.

If you are working at home and at your leisure, I would not mix brands.

If you are away from home and trying to hurry, I would not hesitate to mix brands.  So save those two good ones and carry them with you for future trouble.

(I bought some used but still good plugs and plan to use them when needed.  And I need to ream out the "blob".)

OK,
So I just found some Monark replacements for $13 each I would guess(?) that I would not want to mix brands, that they may want to heat at different rates? Just a guess.
Would any of you mix brands, or would it be a moot point, close enough?
Sid, still too near Niagara Falls

Re: [diesel_mercedes] What are they worth? (ballpark)

But, just so we know who we are dealing with:

Kelley Blue Book Co., Inc., began as the Kelley Kar Company, a Los Angeles-based car dealership, in 1918. The dealership was founded by Les Kelley, an Arkansas-born businessman who started the dealership with three used Model T Fords and one employee, his 13-year-old brother. In order to obtain inventory, he began circulating lists of cars he wanted to acquire along with the price he was willing to pay for them. The price lists quickly became a standard among Los Angeles area banks and car dealers.

You may want to check this out for yourselves, but . . .
NADA (the national automotive dealers association) came out with their own book because the kelly blue book was too honest.
