[diesel_mercedes] Missing Radio Faceplates

 


No need to take anything apart ~ .

Just go to any local junkyard , I find the self service ones tend to have more of them .

Anyways , look at the back sides of the stacks of face plates they'll have piled up , for reasons I'll never get , they yank the face plates and stack them then _LIE_ and say they don't have any else they'd happily sell you a radio for $25.....

If you can figure out which of the many plates fit , (after you scout around & find where they are) , simply slap it on and discover that 99 % of all removable face radios are SHYTE .

I bet you can find a good Becker Electronic for $50 .

It's Chinese junk is all .

If you cal : 1-800RADIATOR they'll sell you one for the same price or less and deliver it to your door .

I tired one , wasn't impressed so I bought the all metal one , it was worse to I dropped $250 + and had an all metal one custom made .

There's one brand I forget the name of that's _REALLY_ good and only slightly more than what you're looking at now , made in Europe , lifetime warranty etc. NISSIN maybe ? .

We always try to roll out the welcome mat , sadly folks always seem to come when I'm working or out of town , bummer that but others will drag you 'round to the local used car lots , er , i mean Self Service Junkyards where you'll be flabbergasted to see the rows if nice old Mercedes Diesels just sitting there .....

The day we took delivery of our MCI motor coach, we toured off towards home, stopped at an rv park for the night, our site was not very level, so had to run the coach up onto blocks. Shut off the engine & darn it would not start again. Futzed about with this and that, even tried jumping the starter motor. Called the guy we bought it from, futzed about some more, then after about an hour off mucking about, noticed that the transmission was in drive -----------DUH.

Mine has one of those faceplates too.  Oh didn't you see the red neck window switches I have?

I am not the right person to ask about removing anything aftermarket on a MB! :)  Mine just sits in there. 

I remember them telling me something about not having a lighter because they had to use that wire on the stereo.  Not that I care about a lighter, but it would be nice to have access to the terminal so I could use it for a charger if I want.

Just let the car cruise to a stop. The mechanic said that it would take hours to get the bolt out by drilling out. Does this change anything do u think?
