Nope, someone beat me to it.  There's a 1982 240D auto that I'm watching now.  It's been above $1000 for a while, and just today, it's down to $1000, 335K miles.  I would get a 240 at the right price, but I would rather have a 300D/CD/TD/SD.  The 240 would actually be better for a city car since it will be happy on shorter trips driven hard.

Great! I did the adjustment and now I fit better. This is weird, I fit

Makes no sense. Yes the SDL (yeah ya know the big one everyone says has
more room) seat is down and back as far as it goes, and I really must
drive it with the sunroof up or my head hits the roof. The W123, I can
now actually sit with the roof closed and my hair just touches.
