[diesel_mercedes] Re: Air Filter Brand Recommendation?
Brain,
Are you sure your EGR even opens up?
When I pulled off my manifolds, the EGR was caked with sludge and
inoperable. Some folks just stick a BB in the vacuum line, if they want
the EGR to stop working.
For Air Filters, mine uses the oddball canister style, expensive ones,
so not much choice.
Auto Haus $52.60 (list $94) https://www.autohausaz.com
Hey, I just looked at Rock auto, and it had a closeout price for $17
(Got it, too bad they only have one left, as I'd buy the lot)
Their regular price about the same as Auto Haus.

And, I change mine every year (or give it a serious cleaning). And, I don't have an oil bath in my cannister. I pay $15 ± and sometimes I get something else from Autozone which is 1 mile away. Sometimes I look at removing the cannister and EGR stuff from the engine too, but have not built up the energy or nerve to do that. Nate from TN can give you more on that. Maybe before I get senile I'll do it - there are some you tube videos which look pretty simple.
