Re: [diesel_mercedes] W123 Turn signal wand

Maybe some electronic connection spray. Haven't tried it on the MB, yet
it worked pretty good on the turn signal switch on my wife's 240 Volvo.

If not the spray, it's still probably a dirty connection that needs
cleaning.

I have that trouble with my wand too.  The good news is that its replaceable on your car.  The whole assembly is available on Ebay. You have to pull the steering wheel, but it is a simple operation.

It does take awhile to heal, though it can drive you crazy waiting.

Plus, Imiss driving it and am going crazy in this wheelchair .

I guess I'll have to try the walker with cup shaped left arm support as there's no way I'll ever get my wheel chair in the car .

Wish me luck .

OK, I found the leak, which seems to have nothing to do with the shop guys today.

On the 300D CA '85, there's vacuum line that attaches to the front of the turbo, that has a switch near the glowplug relay, which seems to be the source of the leak.

I capped it off there, and the car shuts off fine.

Looking at a vacuum diagram, that switch is a "Switchover valve, vacuum converter", and the vacuum line at the turbo goes to an "Air recirculating valve"

I'll see if I can find this "Switchover valve, vacuum converter" and pickup a bunch of new vacuum connectors/ hose. I wonder if Brian has these things.

Thanks Mark for getting me started.

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Engine shut off issue with all else OK.-found it.

Mark,

Yes, on the diagram, it's part #81, which connects to the turbo part #71

Checking out these forums, I'm not sure that I need it at all.

That "Switchover valve" #81 controls the "Air recirculating valve" #71 on the turbo which allows more exhaust gases from the EGR to mix in at certain speeds/ pressures.

I don't think my EGR lets any gases out, so maybe I'll just not worry about it. I'll read a bit more.

Thanks
