Me too Rob !

I didn't mention the large amount of other things I've been working on , I found an broken air cleaner mount and so on .
I guy I know who lives in Hesperia , Ca. makes a SANDEN compressor kit , if you send him your old hoses he'll modify them to suit the new compressor .
His brackets are welded up steel , I might try his kit on the 240D next so stand by .
FWIW , the BMFIC @ the place I bought from , was off line and scanned his inbox and found my queries about the failed job and immediately contacted me to ask for my telephone number because he wanted to talk to me and ensure I wasn't unhappy with the kit .
This is Customer Service you don't typically get these days .
The Klima Design Works kit's brackets is *very* fiddly and had numerous hard to reach fasteners , I am not sure if it's the best way to go yet but I cannot find _any_ fault with it so far .
I'm thinking it's best for the competent DIY'er to install everything and then take it to an AC Shop for leak testing , evacuating and charging .
They , like me , really push hard to FULLY FLUSH THE ENTIRE SYSTEM , this is ever more important as the cars age out .
Doing this up grade on a filthy greasy old engine will be a hard job and likely have problems from tiny bits of dirt / oil getting into the open system .
Interestingly , I'm ever so much happier to be driving my smoky Coupe with zero ventilation apart from the open windows than my super clean and nice European Wagon.....
I know I'm a crazy ass Luddite but I'm also a happy camper behind the wheel of whatever of my personal vehicles .

Sorry to hear of your AC troubles. I was just thinking about getting a Sanden AC, when my compressor blows up, hopefully at least a few years off. I'll keep my ears out to see if that's the way to go, and of course find a different AC guy to do the job.
