[diesel_mercedes] HF Parking Lot Sale
Just got Harbor Freight's email flier re Parking Lot Sale this weekend. More stuff I don't need, but who can resist. Google Harbor Freight and check things out. You do need a new set of colored sockets don't you?

Re: [diesel_mercedes] New Catalog
My '81 240D is balking a bit a starting on colder mornings, so I think it's time to have the glow plugs looked at but I'm trying to avoid expenses whenever possible since I was laid off last year. The thing is that the 240 gets 28 mpg around town but my other cars ('02 Grand Cherokee and '85 Town Car) get only 13-14. So, I prefer the economy of the 240 for sure. Now if only some money would fall from the sky I'd replace the glow plugs and all the door seals & windlace. And then figure out how to re-attach one of the center vents which has become disconnected from the dash. Maybe I'd even go wild and get the A/C working so I can drive the car in the summer.
There's always something to fix, but this little ol' diesel will be around for a long time.
Thanks to all for the sharing, fun, and advice.

Performance Products is now "Ecklers" - and I just got their new and improved catalogs. They do Porsche also som they send both. It is like getting the Sears Catalog all over again. Pretty pictures, but high prices - aiming for the newer MB crowd with $$ to spare. But, if you are in this group, you need these for the schematics and the pictures. Also, gives you a high end price comparison. When I see a $100 or $200 plastic lens, then I know why I go to a PAP for such things.
Well, April 15 is almost here, and you know what that means, don't you? Yes, it is time for my semi annual oil and filter change on Mary & Martha. Also, with the spring time weather, it is time to make my annual list of fix its, and begin the process of rehab work (vacuum, glow plugs, etc, etc, etc). Time to wax the cars too.
Hey Nate in TN - are you still out there? How about the rest of you lurkers? Lets hear your plans for 2012.

[diesel_mercedes] Door Locks
Well, this was a first for me. Came out of Harbor freight, put the key in the passenger door, unlocked it - and the door lock pulled right out of the slot, leaving a nice empty round hole. Got places to go, but later today will have to tackle it. Looks like a pin came out or something - anyone have such a problem before? If I end up taking the inside door panel off, anything else I should fix while I am inside?
