[diesel_mercedes] Passing Inspection/Emissions test
I have a 1991 300D due for its bi-annual emisssions test. I usually use MMO with diesel fuel and add Diesel Kleen or SeaFoam occasionally. I can get B20 at a truck stop once in a while, in which case I don't use any additive. It doesn't appear to be a "smoker". When I'm under heavy acceleration I think I see a little fog in the rear mirror, but hard to tell. It does have 288K miles on it.
QUESTION: When I bring it in for the emissions test, what is the best thing to have in the tank? Straight Diesel, B20 or diesel and an additive?
I'm in RI, which I think is not as strict as CA.
Any advice?
Joe

[diesel_mercedes] still here
You boys still here? I thought I would sell my 2 -240's but realized I had separation anxiety so of course I could not go tru with it so here I am. I've had 2 or 3 more surgeries with long summers on crutches. This summers surgery recovery was shorter though and I actually could plant a garden and get fruit out of my orchard. I am burning 5 to 7 year old diesel in my 240's now. I mix it with fresh and put two big jugs of cetane booster in my 300 gallon tank. Yesterday was really the first day I ran it and it seemed to be super fuel. I hope I don't blow the head off the car. So whats new? I guess I will keep my 240's forever. Max
