Wow ~ a V-12 ! .

I was once given a Cadillac sedan, the last year with the flathead V8 (? 1948?) I've never really liked flatheads so I passed and I think they told me later they'd junked the car .

I remember a rual gas station in New Hampshire that in 1968 sold gasoline for 0.27 cents the gallon .

Everyone told me it was the worst gasoline they'd ever tried .

[diesel_mercedes] Fuel Economy Check '84 300TD Slushbox

 

Ran out of fuel @ 378 miles, low fuel lamp came on at 1/2 tank on the gauge so I kept driving for most of a day, when I felt some air bubbles going through the injectors I was luckily in low speed traffic and made a beeline for the curb, shut it off and looked in the clear plastic intake screen top see some coffee grounds looking silt in the ,otherwise clear and healthy looking fuel so I replaced that screen (always carry spares !), added some Biobor and 2 gallons of fuel, drove to a filling station where I filled it to the top with Chevron Dino Diesel fuel .

21.6 MPG, always consistent with this mileage regardless of city or highway driving .
