[diesel_mercedes] Re: alternator bracket replacement

If you have to lift the engine then I would change my DIY to LSEDI (Let Someone Else Do It).

Anyone done this before and can describe the job for me, and maybe a difficulty scale estimate from 1-5.

PS - feel free to take some really good pictures of each step - and post them in the photo section.

Thanks Brian...I actually got the radio out with 2 dinner knives and a very helpful SWMBO ;)

Had to take a break until dark and then I was just determined to at least get that hazard out...which I finally did.

My blinkers don't blink, so I'm hoping refurb or replacement of the hazard will fix that, but I figure I might as well clean all the switches.

I'm using the info from http://www.peachparts.com/Wikka/SwitchRefurb but if you or anyone else has tips, I'd love to hear them!

Most of my switches have the icons worn off, so yeah...PAP roadtrip sounds fun...at least I get to practice removing stuff on my own ride first, now I know what to do when I come across some stuff at a PAP.

Tomorrow the hazard gets cleaned...hope it fixes my turn signals and hazard blinking...

I clean all my console switches at the same time, so I remove the entire wooden console out (careful, this needs to be researched herein first), and then you can pop all the switches out and clean them, or replace them. Also, dime a dozen at the PAP's. Take a Sunday drive into Colorado or Texas and stop along the way.

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re: 83 300SD Aftermarket Radio Removal?

I think that's the same one I used when I first did it. Just remember to do your work on a clean surface, maybe with a white towel because - BB's and small springs will get lost in the rug or any where else the gremlins take them. And use something to cut the greasy crud - but don't light a match or cigarette if it is flammable.
