This group provides a forum for owners and operators of diesel powered motorhomes and 5th wheel tractors to discuss mechanical issues, regulatory issues (US, Canada), ownership, insurance, campground accommodations, trip reports/suggestions, and other topics relevant to large RVs and the people who drive them.

Got to change out the drivers side rear door check stops on both cars. Done it before and it is not a terrible job (kind of easy really), but if anyone want pictures, I will be happy to do a FYI pictorial and post them.

I have had in happen twice, maybe thrice, and I too will never, ever, let it happen again. It's the pits. I even carry a 1 gallon jug of juice with me to avoid such calamity.

Look through the archives and search out Nates "Citric Acid Flush" - but the most expensive coolant is also the cheapest coolant you can buy. Call me crazy but I always get the MB brand at $20 +/-. If I change out every 3 years that amounts to $7 per year max. My quick and dirtry version of a citric acid flush is to drain and run with water + vinegar several times until I get clear rust free water and then refill with MB coolant. Been at 82C (175F) for 5-7 years with this regime.

Does anyone have a good detergent to recommend and also an inexpensive coolant to refill for a 71 220D?
I think it is time to get to this.
Thanks a million. Mike.
