Today, put on a new spin on fuel filter on Marhta cuz I was tired of her "weeping" around the seal. Remembered to fill it up with the old filters fuel this time so we started right up.

Possibly one injector is acting up? Fuel feed to that injector leans out with temperature, or the injector/tip running leaner as it heats up.  Bill in Oregon

[diesel_mercedes] Fuel Economy Check '82 240 Automatic

 

AC used , Silver Bottle Diesel Kleen used , mostly AWMBO driving in town .

308 miles , 28.6 MPG .

She noticed it's smoking a bit @ hot idle , I'd love to overhaul or rebuild the engine and tranny in this car but the $ evades us for now .

Both cars (1983 300d's) got new radiator caps. Mary got a new P/S pump gasket, and got her 5 year old hood pad removed courtesy of my local car wash and super vacuum. Next up will be installation of an air filter for Mary, and a change of coolant (after I unthread the broken plastic radiator plug). And maybe I will replace the rear drivers door check, and put on 2 new muffler hangers (with the chain inside). Nothing major, just fun stuff now that autumn has come upon us.
