I don't understand your question Brian .

We made it fine, I'm still running the gentle acidic cooling system cleaner I added in Flagstaff, Az. two weeks ago ~ the coolant has finally turned deep red indicating I *might* finally be getting the silt deep in the water jacket loose .

Sadly I have no place to drain it all out here before heading back to - morrow .

The tankfull I replaced the minute before hitting the open road returned 29MPG @ 524 miles
.
NO A/C, Startron used, Propel Bio-mass (whatever that means) Diesel fuel .

[diesel_mercedes] OOps ~

 

I was harvesting parts from a 1980 Mercedes 240D last week and noticed pic. # 1 ~

" This cannot be a good thing " , I reached over and tugged on the broken alloy rocker box and it came off in my hand revealing pic. # 2 ~ notice there's no wear on the can chain sprocket whatsoever .

I'm guessing someone replaced the cam chain and didn't peen to master link properly, sending this poor old car to the junk  yard .

I went there to salvage the European spec. rear bumper off the '75 (!) 230C grey market car in Pic. # 3 .

It was *very* rusty and had clearly given it's all .

The bumper has one rust hole in it and will be used to assemble a better European bumper to the rear of my '84 300CD *:x lovestruck .

Because " a thing of beauty is a joy to behold " .
