Re: [diesel_mercedes] Exhaust Manafold to down pipe connection question

Are your engine mounts okay, or doing some offroading?

Subject: [diesel_mercedes] Exhaust Manafold to down pipe connection question

300D, non turbo.

I dont have spring bolts at the junction between the Exhaust manafold and the down pipe, I beleive there should be, none of the chains, nor my online searches have turned up spring bolts or anything else for this junction.
I have straight through bolts, and they have to be re-tightened every six months or so.

What doese everyone else have ?
Bolts, Studs, Bolts with springs, studs with springs.....

Thanks,
Steve

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Exhaust Manafold to down pipe connection question

They didn't need spring bolts. These cars originally came with an accordion section of pipe below the downturn from the turbo outlet. My accordion is 32 years old and still intact. And the bolts are still tight.
Damn! I love the way the Germans used to build cars.

Look at Ecklers,AKA Performance Products catalog or online.  They have layouts of the vacuum lines.

Hi,

Anyone out there with a 79 300D who could take some pictures of the vacuum hose connections near the oil filter and valve cover? I have 3 hoses that were plugged off and need to find out where they are supposed to go. I think one or more might need to go to something on the valve cover but nothing up there. A diagram for a 79 would be good, also. I find a lot of diagrams for newer models, but they all have an EGR and mine doesn't.

thanks,
David

[diesel_mercedes] 79 300D vacuum hoses

I find a lot of diagrams for newer models, but they all have an EGR and mine doesn't.

thanks,
David
