Re: [diesel_mercedes] Oil Drips & Kitty Litter

My cat litter is $4 a bag. But after my cat pisses and poops in it I put it on my neighbors driveway. Recycling is good.  Max

Yep ;

I get it at the Dollar Store .

The cool thing about kitty little is : you can keep using it , sweep it over the whole driveway after you're finished with the car and each pass will pick up a bit more oil drippings .

Every time I rake up my back yard or sweep the sidewalk (what Tom calls ' polishing the Concrete ') , I make a point of sweeping the piles of dusty leaves etc. back and forth over the damp spots on my driveway .

This , in time , will render you with nearly oil free Concrete .

me , I like to wash it as / after I'm washing the car or engine .

Love that 97 cent a bag cat litter from Walmart. Put it under the car to soak up any oil drips that happen along lifes journeys.

[diesel_mercedes] Radiator Replacement

If you can park it facing up hill , it'll dribble far less .

Remember to use TWO wrenches ~ one to loosen the fitting , the other to hold the stationary fitting from ripping out easily .

Loses less than one quart IIRC , it dribbles all over your arms as you're working .

Wire can be used to hold the open hose ends facing up .

[diesel_mercedes] : Fuel Gauge Service

No ;

You open the first aid kit compartment and remove the kits, set aside and use a stubby # 2 Philips screwdriver to take out the one screw holding the plastic box in place ~ once the box is out you can see the top of the fuel tank and the plastic plug attaching the wires to the sender .

Wipe the dust off the wires and make notes of the colors ~ one will be solid brown , that's the ground wire .

Use a bit of wire to jumper the other two wires to a clean metal piece like the door latch striker in the jamb .

If you have any , here is a good place to use a test wires with alligator clips .

Take your time , work diligently , 90 + % of the time the problem is in the sender .

BTW : have you yet looked at the fuses ? if any of them have a grey metal strip , they're BAD and are just waiting to fail and give you fits so cound how many you need in the various Amperages and go buy more than you think you need , replace ALL grey metal strip fuses ! they're cheap .

Thank you for the response!
I have rear seats (grey market car) but they can't be too hard to remove.  I presume the sender will be obvious once the seat is out?

Thanks,
Chris
