A previous poster asked if the motorhome was towed and that perhaps
the drive shaft was reinstalled out of sinc.
I have a slight vibration at the rear as well and my 1998 Dutchstar
was towed last summer when I lost all the oil in the engine due to a
blown gasket in the internal oil cooler of the cat 3126 engine.
I thought about the drive shaft installation causing the vibration
but now I wonder if there are match marks on the drive shaft ,the
tranny and the rear axle housing. It would not surprise me if there
were any, but how would one find them and are the usually matched.
Or on the other hand is the drive shaft including the universal
joints balanced when innitially installed.
Has anyone ever checked into this and would they share the results
please.

> My first guess would be U-joints. I have a 2002 Ultimate
Advantage with 32,000 miles on it. Just came back from Myrtle Beach
and started to get a vibration / roar. I did not think U-joints as
they had been lubed more frequently than called for. Took to
Cummins South --- ended up being a U-joint. The grease distribution
channels had a defect in the making of the U-joint. Even though
they were greasing them as called for, the grease was not getting
where it should be going. They replaced both U-joints and the
noise / vibration went away.
