[diesel_mercedes] Re: 240D will not shut off

or someone took the vacuum canister off of the top of the injector pump for some reason and never put it back right. look very carefully at how the linkages in there engage and put it back right(which looked wrong for me when i took off mine on a 617 engine). if it engages wrongly, the stop lever does not go down far enough to cut off fuel supply to the IP.

[diesel_mercedes] Re: Sylvia - 1984 300 SD - bad alternator makes her go wonky....

I have had excellent luck with the alternator sold by fattywagons, near the bottom of this page:

http://fattywagon.com/fwproducts.htm

but then swap out the voltage regulator with one of these:

http://www.davebarton.com/AdjustableVoltage.html

Since the fattywagon pulleys are smaller than stock, you have to go down one length size on your belt(s).

This rig works great.

I have also bought a high capacity alternator from a random seller on ebay (with excellent feedback rating), that uses a standard pulley size, and it works good with one of Dave's adjustable voltage regulators. About half the price of the fattywagon rig.

It is really hard to figure out what size you need, the two sizes are so close in appearance, even measuring them is difficult. So ask the seller what size the regulators are before you buy. And don't buy unless they are sure.
