I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties
than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to
control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by
deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the
banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children
wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing
power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom
it properly belongs. Thomas Jefferson

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Diesel Injector Testing

Nate,

Your pop tester sounds like a bad copy of the one at Mercedes source: $189.50
https://mercedessource.com/store/diesel-fuel-injector-balance-pressure-tester-yes-you-can-do-it-yourself

I'll pick one up sometime.

Diesel Injector Testing Posted by: vwnate1@yahoo.com vwnate1 Date: Fri Oct 25, 2013 6:55 am ((PDT)) Hosed again ~ I bought a home made Diesel Injector Pop Tester from a guy in Ohio , he converts those inexpensive hydraulic jacks to Pop Testers but this one was *so* poorly assembled the large diameter pipe you're supposed to screw in as a Diesel Fuel Resivoir , couldn't be screwed in because he'd welded the output pipes over the threaded hole . Plus , he installed a broken pressure gauge , this wasn't any accident .he clearn just didn't care . I persevered and ever so slowly & carefully dribbled in some fresh Diesel Fuel , then pumped it , dribbled in some more , pumped it again and so on until it had sufficient fuel to pump up the injector ~ no matter how fast I pumped it , it wouldn't create enough pressure to pop the injector and it leaked internally allowing the pressure to go down *instantly* as soon as you raised the pump handle for the next stroke . $125 flushed , what a jerk . Now I need to rustle up some spare injectors and take them to my local Service Place where they'll usually Pop Test them for free if I get there at the right time and ask politely . I always go in with a bunch and only keep enough to do my engine , then I give them the rest as a " thank you " for not charging me , I know they're always in need of cores for rebuilding . The slight missing and resultant lack of power under load or upon full throttle is back , this morning as I was zipping up the Harbor Freeway @ 0-Dark:30 going 75 MPH , I reached a slight rise (NB @ Adams) and the car slowed all the way down to 62 MPH Maximum ~ I can *just* feel the cylinders loosing power and slightly missing like maybe an air intake leak in the fuel system ~ the last time I had this , it was my other Diesel Coupe and the hand primer pump was leaking Diesel ever so slightly ~ I see / smell no leaks this time but I also see it's the original hand primer so I'll go buy a new one and install it , see what happens . After I transitioned from the 110 to the I-210 , I ran it up as fast as it'd go then I feathered the throttle until the engine was glassine smooth agin and held it there , after a bit it slowly began to accelerate until it reached 85 MPH and my exit (Baldwin Av.) came up . This indicates lean running in spite of all the Diesel smoot on the Cove and the off idle smoke I see in my rear view . I bet I have multiple issues going on here . Stand by for more technical babble and gnashing of teeth . -Nate
