Pretty much so ~ often you'll have to loosen all three 10MM (17MM ATF) bolts & nuts before you can affect a true adjustment .
The star bolt was prolly stripped & discarded , they're not expensive new .

[diesel_mercedes] Re: Left Mexico, now in Yuma
TWO P-A-P's in Las Vegas !
No. Lamb and way south on old Boulder Highway near where it begins to curve to to Henderson....
BOTH get in really nice and badly rusted out W-123's all the time , a fair amount of W-126 gassers too , mostly impounds .
Practice due diligence on the plastic vapor barrier sheet ~ it's *very* important and should be undone at the bottom and peeled up out of your way .
I need 1982 240D intake manifold & lower 1/2 of aluminum air filter .

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re: Left Mexico, now in Yuma
My '67 Mustang drivers window "mechanism" was a board! Window up...wedge board under it. Window down...lay board flat in door well. Couldn't do this while driving down the Ventura freeway!
I took apart my rear window because it would not go up, was going to wedge a board in it to hold up the window,

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re : " Lifetime " Exhaust Hanger Do Nuts
Cool. I'll check it out. I haven't looked too close to see why mine appears to be too low...it's been raining. When I get a chance I'll get a better look.
Thanks! Can't wait for the driveway to dry out so I can go driving! :)
Looky here : http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Mercedes_Benz_SL/message/4297
Read here : Re: LIFETIME muffler hangers
Better , _lifetime_ exhaust hanger loops : Ma 'Benz took pity on us (or the SL
owners anyway) and re-designed them to include an endless loop of tiny chain
inside the rubber. Part number is : 107 492 00 44 and they're available from
your Mercedes dealer . . . or from any German Partshaus .
O.K. , there ya go .
They look a bit different too , if you're not sure when they hand you the new
part , try to bend it in 1/2 ~ it won't go .

[diesel_mercedes] Alternator adjustment. W123 1980 TD
I've owned two types of alternator brackets on my w123's. The first had a
sprocket bolt to tighten the belt. My 1980 TD has a shaft with a bolt that is
the adjustment. Any tips? I suspect the pivot bolt needs loosening first.
Adjust. Tighten the pivot bolt. YOu're done. Is that it? Lawrence Rhodes....
