I could use a transmission shift arm - the one that mounts to the transmission selector shaft, and operates the neutral safety/backup light switch. But my application is a 4 bolt tranny from a pre 81 300d. If they cross fit I would be interested.
Does anyone know if that is the case?

I believe it is correctly called "Sanden", a manufacturer of small, very efficient A/C compressors.  Check out this conversion kit:
