[diesel_mercedes] Re: Will seats from 86 300SDL fit my 83 300SD?

Thanks everyone...that is all very helpful. Its about an hour away and I will likely need to borrow someone's pickup so I am hoping to get it sorted before going.

And yes, I do believe dear Nate got me confused with "the other girl" ;-) I definitely have a 126... and she's white. No engine swap...just basic beginner stuff for me.

Thanks for the tips...I will keep you posted...if it works out this would be a sweet upgrade from what i have now!

[diesel_mercedes] 123 tanks

Tanks can also be cleaned easily by soaking a tank for a week or two in the hot summer sun with a couple of pounds of sodium hydroxide (lye) disolved in  water

if you are careful and fill it  to the brim without getting the lye on the outside of the tank, you'll not mess up the coating on the outside of the tank

this will disolve RUST and crud

i did it to a crapped up 1985 300td  tank and it's clean as new

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Will seats from 86 300SDL fit my 83 300SD?

The front seats will fit, but you may have to rewire the plugs if it has the memory seats.  The rear seats will fit also as long as they aren't the optional reclining seats which won't fit into a short wheelbase 126 chassis.

Saw some seats for sale nearby on CL. They are from a 86 300SDL W126. I have a 83 300SD W126. The current seats I have appear to be from a W123 and arent in great shape and the rear doesn't even seem to be properly installed. The price on these are good so I am wondering if they are a fit.

Thank you!

[diesel_mercedes] Man invents machine to convert plastic into oil

Guys and gals:

This is not current technology. Some of the videos in this thread are 5 years old. But it is a simpler way to make our own diesel than converting veggie oil - new or used. Anyway, follow some of the links to other vids and take it for what it's worth.

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re: Will seats from 86 300SDL fit my 83 300SD?

Caitlin,

They should fit, as I believe the SDL is just a longer SD.
It should be obvious when you see them, if you drive over the SD and check.

Nate, I think you are referring to Trish who sold her MB.

[diesel_mercedes] Re: wont shift into park

you say you have to put it in neutral to start it. Is is really not going into park? Try going to a slight incline and putting into park and see if it will roll with brakes released. If it will not roll, it IS going into park. It may just be an out of adjustment or bad switch

[diesel_mercedes] Re: Red Max Pro wax job - almost 1 year later

Nate,

Thats one of the bueaty of the Read Max job, no circular motion needed. No buffing off. Just wip it on, let it dry.

Apply and let dry, sounds like an infomercial. I think the small bottle of Wipe New advertised by the Count (History channel not so reality show) and its clone advertised by the other guy is rebottled Red Max.

Takes 4-6 coats, but a coat take 5-10 minutes max, and it lasts for a year.

Steve
