I agree and I'd not drive it until the repair is done as the coolant will ruin the tranny if it gets in .

Remember Mercedes manual transmissions take ATF . Max
It would seem to make perfect sense to use the best synthetic oil in a manual or automatic transmission, since oil in transmissions rarely needs to be changed. I am using Mobil 1 in my 85 300TD. It does shift more smoothly by a bit. It did away with the occasional clunking..
Hey Ben, I'm trying to keep up with the math here...does this mean your gearbox was 1.5 quarts low to start with?

190D and
my '69 Harley. Both trannies are smoother
shifting and
quieter than before.
