Yep that's what it is. Kevin climbed under there, wiped everything down, started it up and watched it leak. Big slit in it.
Ordered a new one from AutohauzAZ, the best price we found via a massive search. Free shipping too! Hopefully it'll ship today. When I can afford it I'll get the upper hose. The brakes are next. A/C????? Oh well. It's been 4 yrs, what's one more blistering summer in N TX without? At least I have it in the house!

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re: WAS: Rear Main Oil Seal leak NOW: Oil Cooler Line moisture
Kevin's gonna check to see if it's loose at the connection.
It is oil.
It could explain my sudden jump in oil consumption. I had it under control, down from 5qts every 100 miles, to 2 qts every 200 or more miles.
Last week I was getting ready for interviews in downtown Dallas, so I checked the oil, then warmed the car up and checked the trans fluid. That's the first time I saw the "moisture". When I got home I checked all fluids and that line, nothing. Wasn't even sure which line I saw it on earlier in the day! Forgot about it until yesterday.

I have seen other rubber reinforced lines "sweat" for whatever reason.
Air conditioning lines, oil cooler lines etc. Unless you actually see
fluid that should be on the inside coming through to the outside I
wouldn't worry too much. If it is actually "oil" on the outside check
to see if it is a drip running down from a fitting. Don't know why
hoses "sweat".

Taking it all in stride.
It's oil. I did take pics. I'll get them off the phone and post in a bit.
Take a deep breath and count to 25 slowly. Oil cooler lines blowing? Never seen it yet. What kind of condensation? Water, oil, trans fluid, dog pee? You have a good camera. Crawl under and post some good pictures of what you are talking about.

Re: [diesel_mercedes]Re: 83;; 300 SD engine miss
It looks like Star Brite is the larger company that makes Star Tron, as
the Star Brite site's catalog has Star Tron additive and Tank cleaner.
Soltron seems to be something similar, yet we've been using Star Tron
and discussing it here for years.

[diesel_mercedes] almost pulled the trigger
saw an ad on craigslist for an 82 300sd wanted $4500, WHAT!!!
Turns out it had a new engine put in 80000 miles ago. Dealer forgot to put cap on. Dealer put in new engine. But I thought about it and decided I have never had a problem with the engines, just all the other parts, and all the other parts on the car make it only worth maybe 1500-2000. So I passed on it.
But putting 128 miles a day on my car, I know I will eventually have to replace it.

[diesel_mercedes] Re: WAS: Rear Main Oil Seal leak NOW: Oil Cooler Line moisture
take a paper towel, wipe the moisture, and see if it is water, antifreeze, or oil (black). Water, take a seat and have a cold one, enjoy the weather. probably just from the rain we had. Or that wonderful humid air the Gulf sends us. if oil, see if it is leaking with the engine running under pressure.
