As I'm driving SWMBO's 240D until I get my Coupe fixed , I began working on it again to - day .
I fixed the broken glove box door that's been a pain since we bought the car some years ago .
Then I took the passenger side door apart and replaced the floppy chrome inside door handle ~ ikt turns out the near perfect ones I got from the red '83 were both broken , I guess from the dipsh*t who took the door cards off , yanking them so hard as both were cracked clear through
.
So I used the passenger side rear one from the red car on SWMBO's passenger side front door , whilst I had it apart I used some Meguiar's # 40 plastic cleaner and a soft brush to scrub the door card and map pocket all squeaky clean , the Palomino interior shows almost no wear atall after 341,000 hard miles .
Removing the glove box door requires removing the under dash cover and sound deadener so i took the time to clean that up too , I was so pleased with how it all looked (photos if you want, just ask) I decided to wash the entire car then I figured I might as well wax it a bit ~ whew ! that's HARD WORK when you're old , fat & crippled
.
I managed to get the hood , driver's door and left half of the roof done before my body said ' !ENOUGH! ' and I closed up shop , took a bath & headed off to visit RAH Restorations in Valencia , Ca. ~ a wonderous place full of 1900 ~ 1920's cars being restored or restored .
Wow .
