Re: [diesel_mercedes] Ontario PAP- OC for me

ps - The website connection for all  LKQ locations is here  http://www.lkqpickyourpart.com/  and they all have a search function (try Mercedes) that will show what has been dumped in the yard within the past two months.  Not perfect (would be nice to have pictures), but pretty good.

Sorry, Max, Conrad, Nate, and anyone else who was hoping. I'll be doing Ontario and Pomona in a day or two. I was at Ontario 2 or 3 years ago when they loaded a good 1983w123 in a new row. I took some parts, but had I known how few and far between they would be, I would have camped out and dismantled the whole car.

Todays walk showed 5 or 6 126 gassers, a couple of 4 cylinder diesels, and an empty row which will be filled with 16 Euro vehicles tomorrow or Friday. The empty row is clearly what interests me most. Like Pandora's box, you never know what will pop out. So, Friday morning I will run by Pomona PAP which is smallish, and then run over to Ontario again and see if there is treasure or trash sitting in the now empty row.

[diesel_mercedes] Re: Fuel guage Maladies , Cures & Service

Tony ;

You'll be pleased to know that the sender comes out the trap door underneath the fist aid kits tray . no need to drop the fuel tank for any service .

However , don't go yanking it just yet , instead go buy some Startron at the boat store and does it 3oz. per fillup and soon you'll see the results .

The sender is designed inside a tube that slowly drains as a method of damping (preventing wild swings of the gauge needle over bumps)  and if you get any fungus growing in there it slows then stops working completely .

In the end , I had to carefully remove my sender (beware smelly fuel drips on the carpet & seat back) and unscrew the bottom plate then hand clean the accumulated black gooey mess before my gauge worked properly but since then no troubles .

We're in Wa. State and there are some W-123's about , mostly in very good nick .

Doing fine, on our trip will spend the night in Missoula MT, and should be home in our own rack tomorrow.
Buuuut, we filled the fuel tank the other day and the guage stayed at the full mark even after 400 miles. The guage looks good, goes to zero when we shut off the key. My thinking is that the float is stuck inside the tank, does anyone know if this happens, and if so is there any tips on unsticking the float? Really don't want to drop the tank, and don't want to guess about the fuel level. Will the warning light come on regardless of float position? so many questions so little time.
PS a lovely 300 SD flashed past us, north bound on I15 south of SLC yesterday any one here?

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Ontario PAP- OC for me

OK, back to the PAPs for me, as my driver window regulator broke without warning. The window is held up by a 2" x 3".
I'm also checking to see if the Classic Center can get new ones.

The OC PAPs now have a "Recently Added Vehicles" page:
http://www.lkqpickyourpart.com/locations/LKQ_Pick_Your_Part_-_Anaheim-265/recents/
http://www.lkqpickyourpart.com/locations/LKQ_Pick_Your_Part_-_Stanton-268/recents/

We finally found another old Volvo for my wife, '85 240 DL, which could use some trim and light surrounds etc.
Next year, we can have a 30th B-Day party for both the cars. The smashed '86 is still in the driveway, as we're still pulling parts.
