Has anyone put on a skid plate to protect their oil pan?

Re: [diesel_mercedes] electrical gremlin
Now that you have solved my shifting dilemma, I would like to attack my power window faliures.
The driver's window has been noticibly slower than the passanger's side. One day, I couldn't close it at all. Then it worked, later in the day. Now it is down 3/8ths", and annoying. I have tried the button at least 100 times. Might I be able to drill a tiny hole in the top of it and spray some good electrical contact cleaner in there and expect it to do any good?
I know when I bought the car, the seller said the rear windows had just quit working. I popped the rear switch out and was tinkering with it, and discovered that there are 6 wires to it, and I had them all over the place. I succeded in getting them back in the holder so thay can't short togeather, but not in any correct order! I am afraid to press the button back there now!
Now all I have working is the passanger's side front.

[diesel_mercedes] Re: Oil Pan skid plate
Trish--what year and model? I put one on the '78 240D my daughter drove during high school. I don't recall where I got it, but think it was from Rusty. It bolted right on. I use a topsider for oil changes, but think there was access to remove the drain plug if needed.

TO Whoever suggested it might be the switch under the acelerator pedal...Thank you!!! You nailed it. It was stuck. I removed it and sprayed several concoctions in it, while exercising it. A bit of white lithium grease was the last try, seems to have done the job. Shifts like it should again!!
The ATF in my power steering is NOT black, but how do I know how full it is supposed to be? It is barely covering the filter, and seems to be making 'low' sounds while I am steering. How full if correct?
Thanks guys!!

[diesel_mercedes] Re: Veggie Set Up
That's all fine and dandy but for about 500 dollars in parts you can convert you car to single tank. I can just use veg oil with a single tank. I cold filter at room temp using blue jeans. That gets you to about 10 micron. Any heat allows dirt and other impurities to go through your filters. What looks like grit or fine paste. If you don't believe me look on the bottom of a cubie after your process. Give it a couple of weeks. After a year you'd be way ahead using my technique. No other toxic fluids. Just pure 100% veg. Works for me and I've been doing it for 7 years. BTW when I pour form cubies which I use for settling I stop if I see any dirty oil. Gotta be as clear as a lens when pouring. Lawrence Rhodes....

Needed pre-1980 passenger side seat mounted seat belt receptacle. The one with the red button on the back of the receptacle that released the belt. Saw one on eBay but it was the driver side. Are these flippable? That is ability to install on the opposite side?Lawrence Rhodes.....
