[Diesel-RVs] Re: Leaving RV behind

Thanks for all the replys - I know that normally one
only stays one night, no slides out or levels down.
But, I did use a Walmart in CA for several weeks with
manager's premission. WalMart has policy of accepting
RV, it is the cities that pass rules that forbid.

I had heard that FL did not allow which was reason for
posting question. I would have checked with Manager
and checked unit every few days. In CA, I knew it was
a "safe" area so did not worry - thought I did check
on it every few days.

I will look into storage near Venice -

[Diesel-RVs] Re: Alpine coach

Diane- We are on our second Alpine Coach, a 2008. Comments
previously about the ride are right on; drives better than the Country
Coaches I've driven. I think you have to get a tag axle DP to get a
similarly stable ride. The basic design is about easy service.
You'll find all filters easily accessible; side radiator for better
cooling w/out oil fouling problems common to rear radiators. As
legend has it the then owner of WRV took his chassis designer for a
ride in his BMW 600 series, then threw him the keys and said "design
it to ride like that." Can't say it's exactly like a beemer, but its
as good as I've found in a coach.

We had early QC problems in our first which was ordered to pick up @
the factory. All QC problems were addressed. I'm in Sacramento, CA
area and had service at a non-dealer that handled everything easily.
Second coach had only a few initial quality issues. We now have it in
Baja, which says a good deal about my confidence in the quality (since
we picked it up in September and have less than 4000 miles on it).

The 02 has (I believe) a 330 Cummins/Allison 3060 w/a Pac Brake, and 4
wheel hydraulic disc brakes (expensive to buy initially, but easy to
service and great stopping feel). The iRV2 forum (google: irv2 Alpine
Coach Owners forum) has a ton of additional info, and feel free to ask
any general or specific questions there. Before we bought our first
one I read the entire iRV2 forum to make sure I understood the design
and whether the factory supported its product well. I was concerned
the small mintage would be an issue; as you can see I've voted w/my
wallet twice. If the house suits you, I'm sure the chassis will
delight. Good luck. Mike

[Diesel-RVs] Re: Leaving RV behind

Contact local RV parks in the area and I am sure they would provide
storage for a reasonable price. At least you would have the security
of knowing the status of your RV. Most have secure areas and check
areas routinely. Try www.rvparkreviews.com for parks in the area.
Good luck and sense.

Re: [Diesel-RVs] Re: Alpine coach

Diane,

Alpine builds a very good driving coach, among the best, but has
suffered some QC problems. They went under in November 2006 (Western
RV) but Bob Lee and some investers bought them and reopened the doors.
Bob Lee is the founder of Country Coach ad also purchased it back from
National RV prior to them going under. He is bringing back the quality
of the coach and it is starting to prosper again. We have known some
folks with Alpines and they love them after the bugs have been fixed.

Good Luck,
Kathy
