[diesel_mercedes] CLUSTER ILLUMINATION IMPROVEMENT PROJECT RESULTS

HI ALL:

I finished my dim-cluster-light-fixup project. I ended up using the LEDs I made and lining the optical channels with reflective foil. The foil alone improved the amount of light that got to the cluster. But the LEDs made it even better. I have uploaded some pics of the project as I was doing it to the same folder that has the LED pics. (bogy's LED intrument cluster lights) There is a bit of descriptive text in each pic. Enjoy! I know I will

I am getting a second opinion. With a unibody I think you can save it so long as there is enoigh good steel left.

I am restoring a 54 Chrysler wagon.  It has cost me $8 so far and I have not even started to paint.  That was just to the body shop.

What he said.

Take a sharp screwdriver with you. Go down each side and try to poke it thru the side rails. No need to go any further if you make holes in the rails.  Bill in Oregon

If you can't find the jack points, I would think about putting floor jacks under the car assuming you have some concrete under it and some safe ramps or jack stands. My first choice would be to get it to a garage or muffler shop, i.e., anyone with a hoist who can put it in the air for a detailed look at the underbelly. I would not be crawling under a rusting car without being cautious and safe and careful because once these beasts slip and fall, they squash people.
