[diesel_mercedes] Turbo Evaluation ?

Hi gang ;

I want to overhaul a Garret T3 turbocharger and some one here mentioned measuring some part of it first ~ I don't know what nor how to measure the turbo's parts, I expect to buy a new impeller shaft and have three old turbos I'd like to measure and cherry pick the best parts from, any help or details, links etc. will be greatly appreciated .

TIA,

-Nate

[diesel_mercedes] Cleaned window switches and AC controls

Hi,

Finally got around to taking apart and cleaning out my front window
switches yesterday, as well as spraying switch cleaner into the AC
controls. Both work better now, the windows don't hesitate to move and
the blower turns on when you want air.

Today, a good wash, wax, and detail, makes it look pretty good.

Maybe a few other things today, after lunch.

[diesel_mercedes] Basic Junkyard Stupidity

WOW ! a $200,000.00 tow truck .

My tow truck in the 1970's was a 1955 Chevrolet 3600 with an old tech "Murphy Plate" instead of slings, powered by a 235 C.I. i6 I miss it still, it was beaten and battered but never bowed .

As far as my junkyard, I  SOLD THINGS and didn't give a hoot what a new one would cost, it was just scrap like you said so every penny over .35 cents / pound I got was gravy .

I always had plenty of stock too but I rotated the hell out of it because I wanted to MAKE MONEY not sit on"!!RARE!!" old used parts .

I can remember a guy here in my home town who had a wrecking yard - he
decided he did not want to continue wrecking cars so he got into the
towing side of things. He had tonnes of scrap sitting in his yard - this
scrap virtually funded the tray on the big tilt-slide tow truck he
operates! A$80,000 for the tray, A$120,000 for the truck (a big European
V8 Scania R164) for a grand total of A$200,000. This Scania is the most
powerful tilt-slide truck in the towing game in town!
