[diesel_mercedes] Rotating Vehicles

I hear you Max.

The AC thing , any time you drive the car  use it ~ you can still use the heat , it's very important to operate the AC system often to keep the seals and compressor lubricated .

I LOVE the four speed automatic ! .

Yes, I agree, about sitting. But this car drove great last fall, parked it when it got cold, started it the other day when it ran for 10 seconds. I never used the pump till after it stopped, so if that's the problem it sucked air screwed in.  Car runs super good, maybe the best running car I've ever had, but I hardly even drive it. Last year I just started a new program(cant believe I did not think of this before), up here in the north country we get seasons and basically you live around the seasons. We have a short season of air conditioning. In my240 4-spd I have got the air to work pretty good but don't need it till around July tru September.  In the 240 auto no air, I tried, but its such a hassle keeping one air condition system working in these cars. So last year I starting driving the auto till I need the air. But I cant start driving it till Subaru season is over, which lasts tru March and mud season and break up. We must have about 10 seasons here. The auto is fun to drive, faster, and the trans almost shifts like a manual anyway without a clutch. Also has a sunroof. I can drive the 240's till about late October when it gets cold and then starts snowing, that's when Subie season starts. I might need chains on my 240 to get out tomorrow, hope not. Max

[diesel_mercedes] Primer Pumps Etc.

Sounds good to me Max .

I know the black , all metal ones are fine , the earlier screw typ ones pump more fuel faster.....

Not like most folks ever need to use it , right ? .

Take things easy on the repairs , Spring is nearly here and you have iffy joints .

I was asking Tom if he'd like to take a road trip to meet you this Summer or Fall after I retire , look at your junkers and maybe one of the 240D's too .

We'll see .

Hi Nate, I saw one of Kents videos(from Bellingham)  on primer pumps, he likes Monarch. He says they are all metal and the best. I think maybe white, I found one on my shelf from Arizona, its small, black top, no screwing. I'll put that one on later. This 240 runs so good I know its minor. Something for later. max

For absolute safety, an air tool might be a better choice than an electric tool.

My thought on the manual pump was a slow leak while sitting. I would also agree with mark to check the rubber line at the tank. BTW, that crimp clamp can be cut off with a dremel or similar tool to remove the rubber hose from the barbed nipple, reusing the tank strainer. Anyway since it started, there was enough fuel for the IP to pop the injectors a few times. Compression was good and it ran. So I still say air. Oh! Are you SURE there is fuel in the tank. My 240 sender stuck twice on me showing fuel, but it was dry. Fuel in clear prefilter? If yes, even a leaking hand pump may move some .
