Not too many diesels among them - The "Winternationals" have come back to the Pomona Fairgrounds (every end of February). In an less than an hour, the delightful sound of 500-1000 horsepower machines will be heard as they (ooops just heard one) skitter down the 1/4 mile track for the next 3 days.

[diesel_mercedes] Re: MB- Now I'm crying... Q for max
Max,
I am curious what kind of mileage you got with your 190 D?
I had both a 180b (my first car) and then later a 190b. Both were great cars but I don't recall what kind of mileage I got from the gas models. Who cared in the days of 35 cent gas.
I do remember both of them were great in snow and could easily run at freeway speeds, which I am sure the diesel model struggled with.
On the rust question, neither of mine had any rust and I don't think the model was bad to rust through. I later owned a fin tail 220 S that had headlight cancer and rockers.
As with many things in earlier life I would like to have both of them back.

Nope b models are gas. The only diesels are D models. My car had no rust anywhere. Max

Snow, holy crap, where did this come from. Eastern Washington is shut down. It's been snowing for days now and the temp just dropped to zero. I just went out on the front porch to look at my thermonter and my hand stuck to the door knob. Just when I thought it was safe to go outside. Max

I have steel wheels w/ hubcaps on my 82 240D. Don't live near a P-A-P and have checked other yards, none of which have any old Mercedes wheels. I can find the bundt wheels online but shipping costs a fortune and sight unseen buying probably isn't a great idea...heck, even if I saw them I probably wouldn't be able to spot small problems that get bigger at 65 MPH. So I was wondering about getting some modern wheels for it but I don't know anything about wheels really...anyone got any suggestions?

Max,
do you know if the 190b model was a diesel? Also, did you encounter any rust problems in the rear suspension; if so how difficult to repair?

Off sets is the way the rim clears tierods and such. You just can't fit any rim until you know what off set will work. --- On Thu, 2/24/11, n61cm <jim@tazwade.com> wrote:

What are offsets? Are they spacers?
