I looked at a wiring diagram and all the glow plugs are in parallel. So I have
a wiring problem as well as a continuity/resistance problem. I'm thinking the
broken plastic piece that holds the wires together in the box up front in the
engine compartment my be a culprit. Possibly the plastic holds things in
alignment. The wires inside the connector are shiney bright. No corrosion.
I'm a bit stumped. I should check continuity in the wires themselves just in
case. I have heard that this conector is shared with the tail lights. It is
also unavailable. Oh boy. More trouble. Lawrence Rhodes.......

My M/B broke down again, I just had the front suspension redonei have been driving it since Thursday and this morning I was driving and i nor\tice my brake pedal acting strange so when I went to make a turn I noticed a loud thump/clack metal sound and the car began pulling to one side, from where the sound came from. No brake grinding noises or anything else but the car sits maybe an inch or two lower then the other front side? Any ideas, I just want to cry... to make things worse I purchased my daughter a little nissan pick up I learned it has a blowen head gasket hopefully that is all. By pass the relay and test the current at the glow plugs , if they're all the same , the harness is O.K. & the relay is dead .

[diesel_mercedes] Klima I Servo
ALL the originals were Bakelite .
Some of the newer and rebuilt ones are aluminum bodied .
An aluminum body rebuilt is $250 from Frank , the guy I mentioned in my older posts as I taught myself the wretched Klima I system .
I have an " Unwired Tools Digital Servo Kit " (the $600 one) too , un installed ~ I took it off a W-116 before I got mad & dug in my heels & decided to make the Evil Servo work... =8-) .
Once the Coupe is gone , I'll sell it .
My bet is your radiator is clogged , mix up some Citric Acid Dilute Solution & fill it , allow to soak a few days , flush it out ~ like new again .

Cheap Klima I Servo
The one on the '79SD is the plastic one. Can't see where leaks are, etc
but if you recall the car overheating and blowing a head gasket is why I
got it cheap. Fixing the head now but still haven't addressed the
underlying problem of why it overheated in the first place. This will be
my daily driver and while it's torn apart, I had the starter rebuilt,
rebuilt the turbo myself, the head is at the shop, the radiator is at
the shop, have a new water pump and getting a rebuild kit for the vacuum
pump. Figure this should pretty much take care of the basic mechanicals
for a while.
On the servo, not too sure if I want to bite the bullet and pick up that
kit for $600 that does away with the servo altogether or have the
existing servo rebuilt by that cat (Chrysler servo expert who's name
escapes me at present). IIRC the price was about the same for both and
frankly I look at the servo and my eyeballs spin.

You really should look at the terminal block on the right front fender. Take it apart make sure you have continuity from the terminal on the wire back up the wire. Corrosion at this point will mess up a lot of things.Dead dash, glowplugs, and only 4 volts to 1st row of fuses.
Headlights work,no brake lights or signals.Hazzard does work.
So I'e got half a electrical system.Anyone with info answer.

#1 cylinder 10.5vdc. #2 nothing, #3 8.5vdc & #4 nothing. I think the problem
has been found. But how is it that some get voltage and some don't and some
less than others? I could be off but two cylinders get voltage and two don't.

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re: ' Special Paerson '
1. The coupe is gone.
2. There are the two cream colored TD's with rear glass intact. The rear doors may have rust spots.
3. I checked Performance Products for rear door check (1983 D, CD, and TD) - they show one size fits all (MS1211). You may want to do your own digging. I forgot where I bought mine (maybe Autohaus, maybe not) but the price was $35-$40).
4. Sadly, all of the MB's we saw in the "clear title" area have disappeared. That was a good batch of 20+ cars that I would have loved to pick through.
5. One old finback sitting in the "clear title" area that looks good for its age.
They are really moving cars FAST today.

I know this is a Short Mercedes but......
The basic problem is : I have no place to park it , I have cars stashed all over the place and really need to get them gone .

Here's a link to a Shell commercial shown in Europe. Ostensibly, they're selling gasoline, but the cars used in the video steal the show.
Ferrari pulled several of their race cars from various ages out of storage, flew them around the world, and filmed them running through the streets of Rome, Rio, New York, Hong Kong, Honolulu, and Monaco. No CGI -these are the original cars on the original streets.
The best part is the sound - from the basso-profundo notes of the early, front-engine era, each scene cuts to a later generation, ending with the wail of a modern F1 car. The sounds alone bring a tear to the eye. Even if you're not a gearhead, this video will stir the soul.
