Doesn't slime in the tank cause these problems.
Maybe some Startron will help.
The fuel gauge sender comes out the top of the tank

PS: I pasted a red 300D on the start of the southbound Grapevine, and
wondered if it was someone on this list.
I also have a red 300D and was in the fast lane, at the start of the hill.
