[diesel_mercedes] Ontario PAP

Todays walk showed 5 or 6 126 gassers, a couple of 4 cylinder diesels, and an empty row which will be filled with 16 Euro vehicles tomorrow or Friday. The empty row is clearly what interests me most. Like Pandora's box, you never know what will pop out. So, Friday morning I will run by Pomona PAP which is smallish, and then run over to Ontario again and see if there is treasure or trash sitting in the now empty row.

[diesel_mercedes] Re: Fuel Economy Check '79 300SD Auto

Speaking of which, filled up the w123 300d today with 12.3 gallons and 300 miles =s 24.3 mpg, which is pretty standard for this car, and I think it is what the owners manual says it should get.

[diesel_mercedes] Fuel Economy Check '79 300SD Auto

Just filled her up, 373 miles and 13.3 gals=28 mpg.

Been pretty consistant, have been getting 28+ mixed city and highway.

Mostly SWMBO driving so not sure if AC used or not , I did to - day and ran it a good 30 + minutes after the low fuel light came on  .

3oz Diesel Kleen Cetane Boost added per tankfull .

24.6 MPG .

Still chugs right along but it's true , the 240's are slow , I don't care .

Re: [diesel_mercedes] Fuel guage???

Doesn't slime in the tank cause these problems.
Maybe some Startron will help.
The fuel gauge sender comes out the top of the tank

PS: I pasted a red 300D on the start of the southbound Grapevine, and
wondered if it was someone on this list.
I also have a red 300D and was in the fast lane, at the start of the hill.

Buuuut, we filled the fuel tank the other day and the guage stayed at the full mark even after 400 miles. The guage looks good, goes to zero when we shut off the key. My thinking is that the float is stuck inside the tank, does anyone know if this happens, and if so is there any tips on unsticking the float? Really don't want to drop the tank, and don't want to guess about the fuel level. Will the warning light come on regardless of float position? so many questions so little time.
