[diesel_mercedes] There's a 1981 300D In My Driveway Now!

I have another cheap Mercedes Diesel, and this one is nearly rust free! $700 bought me an '81 300D, high mileage at over 300K, healthy engine/tranny save for a few vacuum leaks, very nice paint, ok interior. Now onto the bad. It will eventually need a passenger's side lower ball joint as the boot is torn, and 3/4 of the window regulators are acting up. It also needs a new air cleaner housing as it's broken at the bottom where the tube goes into the oil separator. It's got potential to be a great car for the summer. It rides much better than the 240D, and is much quieter as well.

[diesel_mercedes] Re: Re : going to flush fits, need "the plug"

I need to go to the 6 terminal "female" side.. The lamp units have "boy parts" on 'em.. :)

Does anyone know if the lamps use H4 and H3 bulbs, btw??

It appears all w126's used the same side maker/turn signals. I ordered a new set of "smoke" ones. (it's a gray car..)

Thanks..

[diesel_mercedes] wanted: plugs for w126 "flush fit" head/fog lamps. and an A/C question.

I'm finally close to getting my '84 300SD back on the road.

I've had a set of flush fit lamps for a later year models to install for probably 5 years.

I need the "plugs" to attach them..

I assume the turn signal/parking lamps are the same plugs.. Hope so as I've ordered new ones already..

A second question.. The a/c condenser was trashed in the accident.

I see there are two models, an "early" (cheaper) one and a "late" model year one (about $150 more). Apparently the later one is a bit larger, and was probably placed, with the coming of the SDL's in the later w126 model run??

Are they interchangable-- or will only one/the other work.. Does anyone know??
