Nate,
What did you do to with seatbelt?
I have one that doesn't retract very well.
Thanks

With this engine it passed $15,000.00 and it still needs paint and the driver's seat spring replaced, I have to chase down a slow leak in the central locking, so forth and so on, on and on ad naseum .(I'm maybe going to add a tachometer just because I can, using all stock Mercedes parts) .
As I have said before : good thing I like this car .
I shoulda bought your 240D but this is SWMBO's car and it's the first one we ever bought and I actually rather like it a lot .
I took the 'B' pillars apart this morning @ 04:00 and began cleaning the seat belts and retractors, as they were hung up to dry I tried mightily to replace the door latch strikers but the damned screws won't budge so I dug out my reverse drills and drill motor to drill the heads off the screws then realized once I have the screws out I'll have no way to latch the doors until I find new ones......
Off I went to P-A-P, hand impact driver and BFH in a box, tried all three near cherry W126's there (same strikers and screws as W123), no joy .
My impact driver is forty years old and dates back to my Motocycle Mechanic dayze in the early 1970's the part you hit with a hammer is mushroomed and cracked, it occurred to me maybe it's worn out ? . about that time I *smacked* my good hand with the BFH![]()

and decided to call it a day, my hand stopped bleeding, maybe Tom will give me a hand (? get it ?
) to - morrow at the P-A-P in Sun Valley ~ on the way home as I was nursing my now sore and bleeding other hand I stopped to have tacos and buy a new impact tool and a new 5MM bit too just to be safe....
Driving to and from the P-A-P I took it on the freeway, varying my speed all over the map, I let it run a short while and it went 73 MPH, used to go 83MPH wide open but this new engine is tight so I want to break it in fairly gently .
I now have the driver's side seat belt re installed, and it zips back as soon as you release it yet isn't too tight and doesn't lock if you pull it out too quickly .
I love it, I'm sure SWMBO will too .
I cleaned up the 'B' pillar covers and lower plastic shields, will prolly install them to - morrow at the Cars & Coffee .
Got home and after a nap began tp polish out the black rubber marks from the lady who hit it at the Pizza parlor last Summer ~ I need to find an honest and _competent_ paint shop and get it re painted .
I'm tired, time for bath & bed (or maybe recliner) .
