I know Spring is here as I'm burning free fuels.
I know spring is here because I got two oil filters and four gallons of oil and am going to do my spring time oil changes Monday. Then, I began to get the urge to wax the cars again. And, maybe look at all the little fixies again. I am still mystified as to how Martha (wifes car) does not use oil, does not drip oil, and seems to have perfect engine after 270,000 miles. She does leak trans fluid so I will clean the bottom while I am under there and see what I can see. Matter of fact, while I have them both in the air, I suppose I will do a thorough inspection and clean up on both cars. As I say, spring is in the air and it is time to think about priming these beasts for some travel time.

Rather than use a coil spring compressor on the rear springs the possibly easier and safer way is to lower the whole rear subframe which decompresses the springs. This allows you to also check the subframe rubber spacers which often need replacing. I never had any luck with the external coil spring compressors on the rear springs. It seems that the mercedes style internal compressor is what works.bunch of CoilSprCompressors on EBay
I assume they will/should/might fit most any spring
btw ... is there any interchange for a rear coils pring that can be used in a 4 door '84 300D w123 sedan?
or must the springs be specific to the vehicle say, could rear rear springs from a 300D (or other #) station wagon or car fit, and perform well on this sedan?
another ? what is with the different sized shims? I see them in 14mm 19mm etc.
any benefit, or need, to use one size vs another?

Since I've heard nothing , I assume it's either sold or not for sale ? .
I'll soon begin looking in Harbor Freight , pawn shops , etcetera.

The cruise control uses vacuum to to pull on the fuel system linkage assembly (throttle in gasoline engine parlance). Consistent and reliable operation is dependent on all the little solder joints in the control box (located behind the passenger side kick panel) still being good after 25-plus-years....

Don't forget these can be "loaned" through AutoZone's "Loan-A-Tool" program, whereby you pay for the tool (I think it's $100 for the coil spring compressor) plus tax, use the tool, then return it for a full refund, plus the tax. The NAPAs around here have the same program.
