My sister bought back her Toyota van a couple of times from the insurance company.  It was a family joke, the "key" was a stubby screw driver since the key had broken off.  They eventually sold it about 30 yrs later for a few hundred bucks and a new DeWalt tool kit.

Don't let the salvage name fool you.  My cars are book valued less than any body work.  If someone dings the door with a stick, it's totalled.

After being totalled, the car may still be in great shape.

I keep seeing a MB at a car lot here in Ennis and had time to stop today.  Yes, it's pretty, but I walked away laughing when I saw the paperwork on the front seat stating it had a "salvage" title!  It wasn't a diesel anyhow.  It was a E320.
