[diesel_mercedes] 240D Low Fuel Mileage

 

As I was sitting in the comfy air conditioned 1982 240D awaiting SWMBO to finish shopping to - day , I decided to pop the bonnet and see how the intake screen looked with the engine idling away....the screen is crystal clear (wouldst _MY_ Mercedes look like that) but the secondary fuel filter was glistening with Diesel fuel , now I know where my fuel economy went ~ sadly , the fatory tool kit in this car is missing the 23 MM open end wrench necessary to snug up that filter bolt , I'll get the wrench out of my Coupe to - morrow morning and tweak it then .

Does anyone here use the Mercedes E-Catalog for parts ? I down loaded it and signed up but I can't figure out how to make it work and I'm keen to go looking for those myriad small things I'm sure I need....

I especially want to re load the original tool kit as those are very good quality tools but I can't find any diagrms or parts lists for the tools , Mercedes does sell them , I just need to figure out the correct part #'s I need .

I just ordered up the original screwdriver and it's under $20 (IIRC) and is terrific .
