Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re: Tiny Chunks In Fuel

Dang primary filters out here are $5.I use to order the ones with brass inserts from germany. But saw how some flakes made it pass the filter. Now I only use purolator primary filters.Nothing but micro junk gets passed it,and my FM100 5 micron stops those dead.My stock secondary never gets dirty now.

The first time I changed the pre-filter, I couldn't get the spooge
to budge using diesel, then kerosene, then gasoline...pumping it
through the filter (in the reverse direction) pretty well with a
turkey bastar.

I may have tried some type of spray cleaner after that...I don't
remember if it was carb cleaner or brake cleaner or what. By the
time I was into it for what seemed like an hour, I figured it was
worth just changing the $2 filter. ...probably used more than $2
worth stuff of trying to clean it. ...and more than $300 worth of
my patience :-)

I'd like to know more about the "chain dance" method of cleaning out
the tank. I had the trunk panel out last WE and it doesn't look
like it's too hard to take out the tank. I'd be concerned about
making a spark inside the tank, especially if using gasoline.

using same primary for months clean with carb cleaner or wd40.My 5
micron filter was full of that stuff too.
