I am like you --- and I think it depends upon the quality of the gauge you
are using and the way you check it. I have a good dial gauge -- not the
slip stick one (which is very inaccurate as a rule) and I don't hear any air
escaping when I use it. I make sure that I press squarely on the valve stem
and the rubber seal inside of the gauge seats square with the valve stem.
No lost air.

I've heard that argument many times from the Pressure Pro & other monitor
supporters, but it just doesn't happen. I check my tires daily when
traveling, and have only had to add air when summer heat turns to winter
cold. And when winter cold turns to summer heat, I have to bleed air off.

After several days of checking you could be 5 lb. low just from the lost air
of checking the pressure every day.
