This is correct ~
When you " unlock " (unscrew) it you're supposed to turn it counter clockwise with your finger tip until you feel the threads ' click ' indicating it's fully open .
I wish I could find new white ones , my Coupe needs a new primer pump now & thew last two I bought were the later typ with black & rounded knob .
