I've had 300Ds (W123 and W124 bodies) and the drains are in the corners behind the hood hinges. Don't remember any screens on top - mine could have been missing. I use one of those flexible tools that has a little claw on the bottom for picking up dropped bolts and washers, etc. If you keep the claw closed it functions as a nice drain cleaner (when used like a pipe cleaner). It is just the right length and diameter and is flexible enough to follow the drain channel. Sometimes have used the claw to extract a small branch or other piece of debris that won't push through.

Subject: [diesel_mercedes] water leak
This weekend I want to try to fix the water leak in the front window area of the car. I think it is probably a clogged drain below the wipers. Where do the drains exit the car? I am thinking it will be easier to blow air back up the drain, as opposed to taking the metal screen out.
If I have to take out the screen, how does it come out? screws, clips, ? I did not see an easy removal method.
Thanks,
Chuck
