Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re:Re : my fuel froze this morning

Where is "here"?

We've had similar temps around the Denver area, and the old ironhead continues to fire up every morning.  Running pump diesel with about 2.5 gallons of waste transmission fluid per tank.  I also add Amsoil's Diesel additive, and tried some of their "Cold Flow Improver".  I cycle the plugs twice, pump the pedal twice, hold it off idle and start cranking.  I don't let off the starter until it is consistently running on all five for 15-seconds, then I let it warm up a little, maybe about a minute.  Takes about four minutes from the time I get in the car until it is ready to motor off.

At work, I'm considered the "reliable guy" in no small part because I know I can count on the old battle wagon.  Once I'm at work, I'm the go-to guy for jump-starting fellow employees' as well as customers' cars.  (I've installed an 85-amp alternator from a Porsche 924.)

It was 4* F here yesterday and my 91 300D (285K) fired on first try, as aways.  I too use Power Service Cetane Boost and add ~3-4 oz. to each fillup.  It has been hovering around 10* the last few mornings, so am happy all works well.
