[diesel_mercedes] Re : an introduction & a question...

A belated WELCOME Thom ! you're no troll , trolls cause problems .

The vacuum system needs time consuming diagnosis , no way 'round it .

The many & varied Mechanics responses are because there's no way to make the Customer understand the hours one can put into testing , you need to remove the carpets and other floor things , hook up the Mity-Vac Tool then pump it up and pay attention , move on to the next thing , the order in which you test , is very important , few seem to grasp this , it seems obvious to me .

In the end , you'll prolly wind up replacing _ALL_ the various rubber 'T' & ' Y' connectors , some if not all the vacuum actuators too as these items all die of old age in addition to regular use .

For now , I'd go under the hood and look for the yellow plastic tube coming out of the firewall , disconnect it and pug both sides , if this makes the engine shutoff quickly , you know where to begin testing , meanwhilst you can drive happy .

More later if you wish , I'm against the clock this morning .
