Get a screwdriver - you may need Phillips and flat, I use my trusty (cheap) autozone one with 2 Phillips & 2 flat. Get a couple of golf tees to block off the fuel lines unless you like leaky hoses. I always check the fuel lines as I had one that was cracked on the bottom and I was losing fuel without knowing it. It is a 5-10 minute job. Fill the empty filter with diesel and you won't have to pump the pump so much (I've even started with an empty filter before). Some will have you back blow the old filter and clean it up for next time, but they are cheap and I carry 5 or 6 in each car. I change mine every 6 months whether they need it or not - I have good clean fuel lines, maybe due to the additives I put in the tank, or maybe because I am a nice guy and the fates have smiled on me. One of the simpler maintenance items in the life of an MB owner.
