I spoke to my son last night, who has had a unique and rare opunity this week . He took time off from his job, to go and work with John T, Redmon, at TPS Mercedes-Benz Restoration , for a few days.TPS Mercedes-Benz Restorations is owned by John Redmon. John has been working on Mercedes since 1972. He opened his first shop in 1979 in the Houston, Texas area. In 1999 he closed his Houston location and moved with his family to the Lindale area of East Texas.
We have had our 83 300 SD for almost 2 years , running it on B 100 , When we got it , it had been running on Diesel secrets, had a bad fuel tank and system, due to badly made fuel. Initaly it looked costly to get up to par, but by accident we bumped into TPS, and John was straight fwd, and actualy we did some things that was not necessary, unneeded. And we have learned since then, if we wanted something as simple as shocks, or a rebuild kit for a vacumun pump, at a good cost, TPS was the place to get it right the first time, at a good cost. John is always willing to guide a do it yourselfer in the right direction.
I was a bit suprised at the number of jobs, my son accomplished in one day under Johns supervision, and of course they had the right tools for each job. A vacumun pump rebuild, a set of glow plugs, an engine heater, a distrubutor rebuild, plus a number of other things like new tail lite instalations, and all in an 8 hour day.
But it is amazing and an alsum expierence, when a young man gets an opunity to work with someone who is top of the line at what he does. Of course I must pat myself on the back, as my son was raised and taught basic mechanics, that equals trade schools, by dad, so that helps, and is what earned him this expierence, along with an attitude toward the older Mercedes.
