Russ, All gasses expand when heated but not all gasses conduct heat as well
as others. Something called coefficient of conductivity! Think of how
quickly a piece of copper gets hot when heated compared to a sheet of
asbestos that is the same size! Gas have a similar property... At
nitrogen's molecular level they just need a lot more energy to get them
moving which is what causes the heat!

Greg,
If water vapor is the problem, then why not filter out the water. I have to
do it when
I paint a car, so it can be done, and with out much added cost.
I still do not follow the theory of not expanding when heated, creating more
pressure.
Everything expands when heated, that too is a law of Physics.
Or is this a quirk in the law like water expands when frozen?
Russ

: Nitrogen is used in aircraft tire to prevent blowouts that destroy
aircraft
: structure when they blow. Air has some water vapor in it and aircraft can
: get very hot and turn the water vapor into steam which raises the pressure
: and causes the tires to blow. Nitrogen does not have the water vapor and
: thus is more stable. However, even with nitrogen the pressure does rise
with
: temperature just look at the gas laws in physics.
