Re: [diesel_mercedes] Re : '92 300D headlight

I was skeptical of the paint & you gave me all the caution to the wind I needed.

Since posing my spray chrome question, I found some info on aluminum taping the bowls. I've seen quite a few people who swear by the results after buffing to a shine. Don't mean to beat a dead horse but has anyone ever tried the aluminum tape method?

' Chrome paint ' , simply put , _isn't_ .

It's regular old silver paint with a fancy label and a higher price .

If you use it , you will ruin the reflector and be really pi$$ed off to boot for having been taken advantage of .

Yes , I tried it when I was 14 or so , I thought it looked cool on the label and had a rusty chrome bumper I ever so carefully cleaned , sanded and prepped.....

After it was partially shiny chrome (the old stuff I'd polished) and partially matte finish silver paint....

Grrrr.....

YMMV
